Louis “Tony” Looper is a Doctor of Audiology. He was born and raised in the central valley of California. After graduating as the Valedictorian at Oakdale high school, he moved to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Human Biology (and completed pre-med studies), and earned his Master’s degree in Audiology from San Jose State University. He earned his Clinical Doctorate in Audiology from Salus University in PA. He started his career as an Audiologist in the year 2000, and worked in a private Audiology practice in Santa Rosa CA for 5 years, and then at Kaiser in Walnut Creek CA for 2 years. Then he was the initial provider at private practices in Elk Grove CA, Lodi CA, and Merced CA, where he trained other providers to take over each of those offices. Then he worked as the head Audiologist at a private practice in Sonora CA for 14 years, before he moved here to Palm Desert CA, to become the new Audiologist at Bellows Hearing Institute in December of 2023. In the middle of his career as an Audiologist, he also worked for 2 years as a surgical neurophysiologist, doing intraoperative monitoring of the integrity and function of spinal and cranial nerves during spine and brain surgeries in operating rooms throughout CA (which is a highly specialized area of Audiology).

Dr. Looper was drawn to the profession of Audiology because of its unique opportunity to combine the diagnostic testing, the constantly evolving hearing aids technology, and the counseling and education of patients, to make a significant difference in their quality of life, through enhancing their ability to hear and communicate, and therefore their ability to engage in relationships and various activities. He enjoys providing excellent diagnostic testing of patients who are referred by physicians or who find Bellows Hearing Institute by other means, and then he greatly enjoys providing better hearing and aural rehabilitation through the use of highly sophisticated hearing devices and expert counseling. He has derived great satisfaction and joy from successfully assisting thousands of patients over the years, on their journey to better hearing and communication, and to re-engaging with the important persons and activities in their lives.

Laura Roberts is an Audio Technician. Laura is originally from the Coachella Valley and has lived here all her life. Laura started working at Bellows Hearing Institute in 2008. She began working in the hearing industry in 2008 after working in Family Practice for 25 years. What Laura loves most about saving hearing lives is giving patients the opportunity to hear the best they can hear. Outside of saving hearing lives, Laura loves hobbies such as spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors.

Maritssa Maciel is a patient service coordinator. Maritssa is originally from Indio, California and has lived here her whole life. Maritssa attended Indio High School and started working at Bellows Hearing Institute in 2019. What Maritssa loves most about saving hearing lives is re-introducing patients back to their old life. Maritssa strives to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome in her everyday work with patients.
